A small, independent app studio with a simple idea: build fewer things, build them properly, ship them to the stores, and look after them.
MerseyPixel is based on the Wirral, looking out across the Mersey. The name is a nod to where we are — between the river and the sea — and to what we do: putting pixels together into software that people actually use.
The studio was founded by a software developer with a background in building iOS, Android, web, and desktop applications. After years of working inside larger teams, MerseyPixel is the place to make our own apps — designed in-house, shipped to the App Store, Google Play, and the web, and looked after properly afterwards.
We're deliberately a small operation. That means every app gets real attention from someone who understands the code and cares how it behaves a year after it ships. We occasionally take on bespoke builds for customers, but most of our energy goes into the studio's own work.
We keep the studio small on purpose. It means the person designing the app is the person writing the code — and the person who replies when you email about it.
We pick tools because they're stable and well-understood, not because they're new. Your software will still make sense in five years.
We'd rather quote a fair number we can stand behind than win work with a fantasy timeline. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you.
The software we build is used by real people. We care about accessibility, privacy, performance, and how the thing feels to use on a bad day.
If any of that sounds like the kind of studio you'd like to follow — or if you have a bespoke build that might be a fit — we'd like to hear from you.
